File formats

Every file type, column name, date and amount format the importers accept.

Transaction files

FormatAccepted as
CSV.csv or .txt, separated by commas, semicolons or tabs
Excel.xlsx, first worksheet only
OFX / QFX.ofx, .qfx or .xml
CAMT.053.xml bank-to-customer statements; pending entries are left out
QIF.qif, bank account transactions (not investment QIF)

Limits: 10 MB and 10,000 rows per file. One statement file can hold one account; export each account separately.

Columns in CSV and Excel files

The first row must be a header. Column order doesn't matter. Euporia matches header names after ignoring capitals, accents, spaces and punctuation, so Booking Date, booking_date and Buchungsdatum all work. You can change any match before importing.

ColumnRequiredHeader names we recogniseAccepted values

Dates

2026-06-28, 28/06/2026 or 28.06.2026. Day comes before month. Two-digit years aren't recognised. Excel date cells work as they are.

US-style dates

A month-first date such as 04/05/2026 is read day-first, as 4 May, with no warning. Only dates that can't be day-first, such as 04/25/2026, are skipped. If your bank exports month-first dates, change the export or the date format to 2026-04-05 before importing.

Amounts

  • 1234.56, 1,234.56 and 1.234,56 are all read correctly.
  • The symbols €, $ and £ are ignored. Other text in the amount, such as EUR or brackets for negatives, makes the row fail.
  • Choose whether negative or positive amounts mean money out when you import. Statement files (OFX, CAMT.053, QIF) always use negative for money out.

Currencies

A currency column must use one of the supported currencies. Without one, rows use the currency of the account you import into.

Text encoding

UTF-8 is best. Euporia also reads UTF-16 files and declared encodings, and falls back to Western European (Windows-1252), telling you if it did.

Re-importing an Euporia export

The CSV from Transactions → Export imports back unchanged.

Holdings

Holdings files are CSV or Excel (.xlsx), up to 1 MB and 500 holdings. Header names are matched the same way as for transactions.

ColumnRequiredHeader names we recognise
Holding nameName or identifiername, holding, security, securityname, instrument, description, asset
Ticker or ISINName or identifiersymbol, ticker, isin, identifier, securityid
QuantityNoquantity, units, shares, position, pieces
