Budgets
Plan each month by giving your income a job, one envelope per category.
Euporia budgets are monthly envelopes: you plan how much income you expect, then assign it to categories until nothing is left to assign.

Change an envelope's Assigned amount: To assign and Available update as you type. Aim for To assign = €0.
Create this month's budget
If the month has no budget yet, select Create budget. Euporia copies last month's income and envelope amounts, and carries over what you didn't spend. Your very first budget starts with Housing, Groceries, Transport, Utilities and Savings at 0.
You can create a budget for this month or next month. Use Previous month and Next month to move between months; select the month name to jump back to today.
The three numbers
- Income: select it to type what you expect to earn this month. Press Enter to save or Esc to cancel.
- Assigned: the total in all envelopes.
- To assign: income minus assigned. Aim for zero. It turns red if you've assigned more than your income.
Envelopes
Each envelope is one category and shows:

Select Add envelope to budget another category (each category can have one envelope). Deleting an envelope removes this month's allocation; your transactions keep their categories.
Rollover
When you create a month, unspent money from each envelope carries over and shows as +X rolled over. Overspending doesn't carry over as a negative. Rollover is worked out once, when the month is created.
How spending is counted
Only posted transactions count. Transfers are left out, and refunds reduce spending in their own category.
Budgets are in your base currency. If you change your base currency, past months are shown converted; editing an old month converts it to the new currency.
Only editors can change a budget. Viewers see A workspace editor can create a budget for this month.
